Accessibility
Empire's approach to making its website and platform usable for a broad range of customers and assistive technologies.
1. Our commitment
Empire is intended to be usable by people with a wide range of abilities and assistive technologies. We treat accessibility as part of building the product, not as an afterthought.
2. Standard we work towards
We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our reference standard.
We do not currently publish a formal conformance claim or third-party audit. This page describes what we have implemented and where we know work remains.
3. What is implemented
Semantic HTML structure with one main heading per page and a logical heading order.
A skip-to-content link at the start of every page.
Keyboard operability for navigation, menus, the search overlay, forms, and comparison controls, with visible focus indicators.
Accessible names on interactive controls, including icon-only buttons.
Form fields associated with labels, inline error messages, and status messages announced to assistive technology.
Text contrast checked against WCAG AA targets, and touch targets sized for comfortable use on mobile.
Layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling at standard mobile widths and remain usable at increased text size.
4. Known limitations
Large comparison tables are dense on small screens; a two-plan mobile comparison is provided as an alternative view.
Some illustrative product visuals are decorative and are hidden from assistive technology rather than described in detail.
We have not completed an independent accessibility audit.
5. Alternative access
If any part of Empire is difficult to use with your assistive technology, contact us and we will provide the information or complete the task with you by another route, at no additional cost.
